SWIMMING POOL

Does anybody know if there are any open air swimming pools in Almoradi? what days and times they open. If there are any what do they charge to get in!
Thanks

Almoradi

There is the main sports centre just on the outskirts of Almoradi. It is opened 7 days a week from 9am - 9pm. There are 4 pools and a cafe area or you can take a picnic with you. Last year when my family used it it was 1 euro to get in, but I am not sure if it has gone up.
Directions - If walking go to the Almoradi football ground and there is a camino by the side of the ground, go straight down this road until you come to a main road, the sports centre is across this road and directly in front of you. If driving follow the road to El Saladar, when you come to the main junction/traffic lights turn right, you will come to round about take 2nd exit and this will take you into the sports centre. Hope this helps.

Thank you Almoradi Life,
We do have a small pool where we are renting but its like a plunge pool. Also we have family coming over during the summer holidays and wanted a larger pool. This sounds great and we will be using it probably most days. Cheers

Yeh I have used this open air pool on a few ocassions and it is always packed: Great facilities and you can easily spend the whole day there without realising. Recommended to anyone who wants a peaceful day out and to top up their sun tan.

There is also a community pool in Algorfa which is very close. It is large and very nice, worth a look. You will find it easy, if you drive thru traffic lights in Algorfa coming from Almoradi, up hill as if heading towards La Finca, there a number of yellow apartment blocks on the right, and you will find it near these.

You are absolutely right I forgot about that one. Thats quite nice as well, plus I noticed the other day they have 2 brand new paddle tennis courts, 1 normal court and a new football pitch. Algorfa seem to be spending money again on the community.

Shop Counter

Does anyone have any ideas where I can get a second-hand shop counter from. Schhhhhhhhhh its for the dog charity shop.

La Marina

I HAVE GOT A GREAT IDEA

Lets put a burning stick in my mouth and breath over 240 poisons into my body at the same time blowing out the smoke to do the same to anyone else that is near to me. What a great idea. I think I will teach my kids to do the same.

HOTTEST IN 60 YEARS

After the warmest spring since 1951 the Spanish met office predicts a hotter than usual summer. The first heatwave is expected to hit western Andalucia over the weekend

Torrevieja

I thought it seemed hotter than ever this year and this prooves it. We still love it and you just have to be careful not to be in the direct sunlight too long and have plenty of water on a regular basis.

TENNIS UPDATE

Day 6 at Wimbledon the first saturday in the tournament saw all the main contenders go through, Nadal, Federer, Djokovic with only one major shock, soderling being beaten by Tomic. The ladies also had the main players go into the next round, Wosniaki, S.Williams, Sharapova and no6 seed Schiavone was sent packing. Tomorrow they have a day off as its the middle sunday of the tournament. Monday sees Murray v Gasquet which should be a classic, followed by Nadal v Del potro and Federer v Youzney. Both the Williams sisters are also playing on monday.

Almoradi

This year I think it could be Murrays! He is playing really well and seems to be producing confident performances every time. He definately has the experience now to move on and take the title. Come on Murray!!!!!!!!!

Tobaconist/Lottery Shop

Carol! And your opinion on Lottery is?

That's personal choice that does NOT affect other people. Nothing wrong with having a little flutter !!

Commented Carol in La Marina 2011-06-26 07:09:50 UTC

Carol no one denies smoking is a dirty habit, some people enjoy smoking others find it too hard to stop.Odds are you drive a car,Possibly because sometimes you have to, other times because you want to, the fumes that pour out are obnoxious to people walking. I am not saying dont drive your car because it is a filthy habit, but you should try to live and let live

Commented Alan in La Marina 2011-06-26 10:07:08 UTC

I'm all for letting people live and let live so you say, but I strongly object when smokers ruin my evenings out by letting their smoke waft all over myself and other people who are trying to enjoy a meal outside with friends and trying to breath in fresh air !!

Commented Carol in La Marina 2011-06-26 10:52:35 UTC

I must say that I was extremely pleased when the Law was finally past here in Spain for smoking to be completely banned in the bars/restaurants. However, it is such a shame that the ban didn't extend - as originally was suggested - to no smoking allowed within 50 metres of a Venue. I completely agree with Carol - why should one have to put up with smoke when one is trying to enjoy a nice meal outside. I do hope that eventually this 50 metres restriction will also come in to operation, but this is, after all, Spain.....

Commented QueenBee in La Marina 2011-06-26 11:00:29 UTC

This could go on and on,so my last words on the subject is the smoker does not intentionally go out of their way to spoil your eveningand you are right I cant stand people smoking near me while i am eating, because the smell actually spoils the taste of the food,I notice more and more smokers leave the perimeter of places to have a cigarette without upsetting people sitting near by,given time this may turn out to be the norm.but when that happens you may well start smelling the fumes of cars going by your outdoor eating establishments, and breathing in there carsonogenic poison.
You have an option of if to eat inside in clean fresh air conditions or take a chance on eating outside and taking a chance of having some inconsiderate person smoking near you.It was only a few months ago when you didnt even have that choice,as people could smoke inside as well as outside restaurants.Who knows when the laws will change making it illegal to smoke within a certain distance of the perimeters of an eating establishment
